A Hubble image of the Swan Nebula. A hotbed of newly born stars is swaddled in colorful blankets of glowing gas and cradled in an enormous, cold, dark, hydrogen cloud. As the infant stars evaporate the surrounding cloud, they expose dense pockets of gas that may contain developing stars.
This image has been noise-reduced and optimised for printing.
Thanks to NASA, STScI and Hubble for the use of this image.
I've been an SLR photographer for 50 years. I switched to digital around 20 years ago starting with a great little point-and-shoot from Olympus and then via a procession of dSLRs, to my current Lumix FZ1000-2 which IMHO runs rings around all previous lens/body combinations! I tend to mostly take landscapes, buildings and weather, but I'm always on the lookout for unusual or humorous shots. I'm a big fan of Adobe Photoshop for maximising the potential of a shot, and sometimes enjoy getting 'creative', but mostly using techniques of my own, rather than the 'off the peg' Photoshop filters.
